Hello and welcome! You are listening to English World. I am your host Mark.
Listener friends, did you know that Mother’s Day is right around the corner?
Mother’s Day falls on the second Sunday of May.
In North America, Mother’s Day is a holiday.
It started out as a national holiday for Americans.
And later became an international holiday.
This is the day we honor our mothers.
And we celebrate motherhood.
Listener friends, do you celebrate Mother’s Day?
Fun With idioms
One Jewish Proverb says:
“God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers. “
Each and every one of us is special and unique.
God knits us in our mother’s womb.
And He loves and cares for us through our mothers.
Mother’s Day is a special occasion.
Many people send a card to their mother.
While others will call their mothers on Mother’s Day.
A lot of people will buy a gift for mothers.
Or, take their mothers out to eat.
As a matter of fact,
Mother’s Day is the busiest day of the year for restaurants.
It is also the busiest day of the floral shop
So you’ll see and smell flowers everywhere.
Famous Mothers in the Bible
Eve is the mother of all humanity.
Sarah is the mother of the Jewish nation.
Mary is the mother of our Savior Jesus.
Every mother is different.
But there’s one trait which is the same.
Mark, I know. That is: love. Mothers always love their children, no matter what.
Surely love is one trait of all mothers. But the one trait I was going to say is: worry. Mothers always worry about their children.
That’s true too.
Next, we bring you today’s Everyday Dialogue.

Wen-Jie, most children do not like nagging from their moms.
But once they are away from home.
They kind of miss that nagging.
Jessie should know her mother loves her.
I think Jessie is going to turn out just fine.
Now, let’s review the Everyday Dialogue once again.

Verse of the Week
"Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you,
so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
Deuteronomy 5:16 申命记
The Bible teaches us to honor our parents.
This is a command by our heavenly Father.
To honor parent, that is to show them respect.
Take to heart what they had taught us.
And as adults, we are to care for our parents.
We can show our love in kind words and deeds,
Remember what our Savior Jesus Christ did?
When he was young, he obeyed his earthly parents.
Even when Jesus was dying on the cross,
He entrusted his mother to his disciple John.
What an example Jesus gave us.
So do something for your parents today.
The Bible says: Those who honor their parents,
God promises to shower his blessing on them.
Well, our time is up. That’s it for today.
Today’s lesson is: Happy Mother’s Day.
We would love to hear from you.
And be your friends.

Mark, what are you planning to do this Mother’s Day?
Me? I think you are asking the wrong person. I am a father, not a mother.
Exactly, what I asked was: what are you planning to do with your mother, and with the mother of your children?
Oh, I got it. Honestly, I haven’t planned that far yet.
