Hoover? Or Boulder?
The Hoover Dam was once known as the Boulder Dam, or the Boulder Canyon Dam. It was given the name of Hoover Dam in 1930, in honor of the then-current President of United States Herbert Hoover. However, due to the unpopularity of President Hoover (mainly due to the Great Depression of 1930s), many people tried to revert the name back to Boulder Dam, but the name itself failed to take hold. Finally in 1947, a legislation was passed to officially naming the dam "Hoover Dam".
