“The world of the generous gets larger and larger;the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller.”"
This verse compares two kinds of people. The generous person and the stingy person. Whenever a generous person holds something in his hand, his hand is open. If you need what the generous person holds in his hand, he gives it to you very easily. But when a stingy person holds something in his hand, his hand is closed tightly around it. If you need what the stingy person holds in his hand, he won't give it up easily. He is holding onto it tightly.
Now, we would think that the generous person would become poor because he easily gives away what he has. And we would think that the stingy person would become rich because he holds on tightly to everything he has.
But God's Word says that is not how the world works. It is the opposite. The generous person finds his life becomes richer, fuller, bigger in every way. The stingy person finds his life becomes poorer, emptier, smaller in every way.
Do you hold things with an open hand or a closed hand?
These “words to live by” are from the Bible – Proverbs, chapter 11, verse 24.“The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller.”
